The pen is mightier than the mouse!
Published - Monday, 21 September, 2009Since the beginning of 2009 when we started working with Wacom, I have been using a Bamboo pen tablet instead of a mouse. It took me a couple of days to get used to it but now it feels very natural and I wouldn’t go back…even if you offered me this one http://www.fabstuff.net/products/664. Okay, maybe I would, but only because it’s apparently worth over £14,000. However I would just sell it on eBay before going back to my Bamboo.
Anyway as PRs, our job is to convince you that you need to be/should be using a pen tablet rather than a mouse. Now it’s easy for us to convince those in the creative industry. Wacom’s professional products offer much more precision and sensitivity to artists and designers who use it as an everyday tool. But what about those of you who have grown up with a mouse and haven’t experienced anything else?
Did you know that using a pen instead of a mouse can help prevent RSI and wrist strain? Did you know that you can actually get more out of your computer using a pen rather than a mouse as it unlocks pen-based features found in current operating systems for freehand writing, annotating and navigating? Did you know that using a pen tablet is much faster and more accurate due to the precision of the pen? Imagine being able to draw using a pen instead of a mouse, I know my doodles have actually started to resemble something!
Anyway, what are your thoughts? If I presented you with the choice, what would you choose and why? I’d be interested to hear people’s perceptions of the pen tablet…
