GEAR4_PowerPad_web

The PowerPad has been designed with cutting edge, patented technology, offering distinctively easy and reliable charging. Where other wireless charge products in the market rely on contact points built into a case connecting with contact points in a charge pad (conductive charging), the PowerPad uses inductive charging, where power is simply transmitted through the case to the iPhone battery. This translates into a new ease of use for the consumer, as the iPhone can be placed anywhere on the charge pad and does not require specific contact points and built-in magnets (found in fixed position inductive solutions) to move the case into the right position to be charged.

The PowerPad will be available for £79.99 in leading retailers across Europe or www.gear4store.com from December.

PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wireless charging set to disrupt market, GEAR4 champions new technology with launch of the first dedicated wireless iPhone charger

High Wycombe, UK, 12th October 2009 – GEAR4, the audio brand best known for its docking stations and cases for iPod and iPhone, today announced its move to power without wires by launching the first dedicated wireless iPhone 3G / 3GS charger – the PowerPad™.

GEAR4’s CEO Tom Dudderidge commented: “Our vision of the future of wireless power is what makes this product launch so significant. We believe that wireless charging will become pervasive over the next decade, lead by the widespread adoption of standards. The launch of PowerPad represents the start of this transition.”

GEAR4’s Marketing Director Tom Old added: “There seems to be real consumer excitement about this technology. Once people have experienced the ease and convenience of wireless charging, they don’t want to look back. As a constant iPhone user, it quickly became second nature for me to place my iPhone down on my PowerPad after finishing a call. Now I take for granted that my iPhone is going to be fully charged the next time I pick it up to leave the office.”

Works with iPhone (WWi) certified, the PowerPad has been carefully designed to provide the ultimate solution in convenient power management. The compact charging pad fits perfectly into the home or office environment and simply plugs into the mains to transmit charge to the iPhone through the liquid rubber receiver case. The case acts as a robust protective cover when out and about and then, when charge levels are running low, place the iPhone on the charge pad to power it up wirelessly. And charge time isn’t compromised either. With the same charge time as standard wired chargers, powering up your iPhone couldn’t be easier or more efficient.

These unique features, combined with the convenience of wireless power as a technology, set PowerPad up to be the new standard in iPhone charging. For more information, please visit www.gear4.com/powerpad
