Business Technology section – Sunday Telegraph last week

An article written by Rupert Neate from CES about mobile internet and cars. According to an analyst at HIS Global Insight: “The internet has become so important in people’s lives, they demand to have access all the time. Even when driving.”

“At CES, Ford launched MyFord Touch – a system that gives drivers an internet connection and touchscreen dashboard computer. A spokesman says: “Passengers will be able to use the touchscreen to browse the internet to book restaurant reservations and then ask the car to check real-time traffic info to plan the quickest route.” Drivers will be able to keep up to date with their friends on Twitter while driving by asking the voice activated computer to read out messages and status updates.

Consumers’ growing desire for instant and constant access to the internet was a key theme at CES – smartphones, smartbooks, internet-enabled TVs…

Interesting one this, and I’m really excited about the prospect of internet in a car, especially if you can access your music and work on the move. I guess the concept of Cloud Computing works really well here as in regards to work and personal, all your data including business data, email, photos, video and music are all held remotely, like an itunes in the sky, and whereever you are, office, in front of your TV, on a plane, in your car, you have the capability of accessing your data anywhere…I would like to live in that world and I probably will soon! Awesome!
