Macworld awards 2009 – Ranieri clients pick up two awards

Three of the team ventured to the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) in London last night for the 2009 Macworld Awards, with everything crossed for the four Ranieri clients who were nominated.

As a first timer at the awards, I was very impressed with the venue, food, comedy and free drink on offer. The night got even better, with wins for both Etymotic and Wacom in their respective categories.

Etymotic was victorious in the Best iPhone Accessory category, for its partnership with ACS in producing the hf2 Custom Fit headset, and the judges had this to say:

“The hf2 is a phenomenal set of iPhone-ready earphones that deliver the kind of sound reproduction you could pay a lot more for. Add custom fit, personalised earbuds these will truly be the best earphones you can own”

The evening’s excitement didn’t end there, as a short time later another Ranieri client, Wacom, picked up the gong for Creative Hardware Product of the Year for its Intuos4 pen tablet. Commenting on this category, the judges said:
“The Wacom Intuos4 really is a giant step in pen tablet technology with its wonderfully responsive new pen and comprehensive software drivers”

It’s not just the winning though, we also want to congratulate GEAR4 and Mophie for their nominations and offer commiserations that they just missed out on this occasion.

So, final verdict on my first Macworld Awards. Back in one piece, a good time had by all and many congratulations to Etymotic and Wacom – we’re proud to be associated with these award winning brands.

Etymotic HF2 Custom Fit full video review on Pocket-Lint

As you will have read in the press over the last couple of months, we launched Etymotic’s HF2 Custom-Fit headset in April. The product is available exclusively through Apple and since the launch it has hit newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs and twitter just about everywhere!

Pocket-Lint have been in the thick of it all as ever. The top technology website ran a newspiece following the launch, a full review a week later and now a full product manafacturing video review. The video that you can see below takes you behind the scenes and through the stages it takes to create the product, from the initial impression taking right to the performance of the finished article.

Guitar Hero ‘Greatest Hits’ on it way says Gizmodo

Seen by many as the most enjoyable console game on the market, Guitar Hero’s makers Activision Blizzard (AB) are planning to cash in on this by launching a ’Greatest Hits’ edition before the end of the year – according to Gizmodo.

In a true legendry music hero style, Guitar Hero ‘Greatest ‘Hits will include selected songs from previous versions to create the ultimate in virtual music gaming. Question is, who decides the legendary songs. Will AB put this to the general public to decide, in turn creating marketing buzz for the release, I know that is what I would do.

Paul Lester, Gizmodo;

‘In a conference call with analysts, CEO Mike Griffith refused to name any specific tracks but said that a compilation that includes full band versions of previously released songs in the series will be winging its way to us before the end of the year.

We’d expect at least three or four of the previous games to be covered and the news should come as a boon for those who claimed the World Tour set list was comparatively quite disappointing (oh wait, that was me.)

The title will be available on the 360, PS3, Wii and with a new game coming out for the DS in Q3 and DJ Hero in the works, rhythm gamers will be pleased to hear that the franchise is still going strong.’
