Focus on Imaging 2010 captures the crowds
Published - Thursday, 11 March, 2010Focus on Imaging, Europe’s biggest annual photography show passed in a flash. Held at Birmingham’s NEC at the beginning of this week, the event exposed major players including Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Sony and HP to professional and amateur photographers from all over the globe.
The Societies (incl SWPP) announced today that they are celebrating record recruitment numbers following the organisation’s most successful Focus event in a decade and I’m not surprised. On the first day of the show visitors queued until midday to get in and colleagues on the Wacom stand said they didn’t have time for a drink of water until gone 4pm. Great news for the Focus on Imaging organisers.
There was a lot going on at the show – Panasonic had one of the most impressive stands with a giant sized Lumix compact and made some big announcements including the Lumix G2 and G10. Sony was showing off their new A450 DSLR camera, Canon was highlighting the new EOS 559D, Nikon revealed its new “I Am Nikon” ad campaign and of course Wacom showcased the new Cintiq 21UX and Intuos4 Wireless pen tablets.
Walking round the show it was possible to take advantage of some of the great free tutorials from renowned experts on the Wacom, Adobe and Apple Aperture stands to name a few. The presence of some of the UK’s biggest photographic retailers meant there were also some great show offers to be found.
