*Atlantis, Dubai. What a spectacular show of lights!

Whilst many of us were at home yesterday, sitting in front of the TV and looking forward to the weekend, a host of international stars including actor Chris Tucker, pop diva Kylie Minogue and Hollywood legend Robert de Niro joined in on the celebrations marking the opening of a new Atlantis hotel resort in Dubai.

Atlantis, The Palm is the newest edition to Dubai and to launch off in style, a spectacular light show was put on at the unveiling of the new marine-themed facility built off the Gulf coast on an artificial island in the shape of a palm tree at a mere cost of $1.5bn!

Organisers claimed that the party and fireworks display altogether cost $20m, with reports also claiming that the fireworks display could be seen from space.

However …. whilst all this is fantastic and a wonderful way to launch this beautiful hotel, are these guys not affected by, the very much appraent, credit crunch??
