So Day 2 at Mobile World Congress seems to have been owned by HTC, with the launch of its newest additions to the Android stable – the Legend and the Desire. And going by initial press reactions, both have been very well received. Read a review of both here by our friends at Trusted Reviews, but quote of the day came from Apple fanboy and iPhone enthusiast Pietro Ranieri, our man on the ground in Barcelona. According to Pietro, who got a sneak peak, “I’ve heard a lot about Android handsets but didn’t realise they could be this good. It looks better than the iPhone”. Whether he’ll retract this statement after being outed remains to be seen, but if Pietro was impressed then HTC seem to have a couple of winners on their hands.

“Hump it, bump it, whack it might be one possible recipe for a good sex life, but it won’t win us the World Cup.”
So said former Chelsea chairman Ken Bates after England failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup, and little did he know how he’d be proved right 16 years later by one of his Stamford Bridge protégées.

The feature looked at a new and possibly revolutionary method of air travel which is being developed alongside Samsung, although I had to check the date to make sure it wasn’t April 1st!

I’m not a fan of hoovering, and I’ve never been annoyed by the fact a fan chops up the air as it does its job…but people who do make billions! So time for me to start paying attention and getting that ‘Dragon’s Den’ idea going…like little stretchy socks that hold babies socks on…another obvious invention I’ve missed even though I’ve spent the last seven months following my baby boy around putting his socks back on!

The media will be going ga ga for G20 this week (even more so than they were last week) and it kicks off in today’s FT with an exclusive interview with Barrack Obama on his expectations from the summit. He speaks of unity in the face of crisis – a strong message indeed but how can world leaders be expected to put the world first when the most pressing issues are happening right under their noses?

Next Monday will see the publication of Lord Carter’s initial Digital Britain report on the state of the UK’s digital economy, and already there has been much speculation about what it will contain, not to mention a few rather obvious hints. Some of this is down to genuine leaks, but the way that information has seeped out suggests a well planned campaign to build anticipation prior to its launch.
