I was joking in my last post that I wasn’t going to make it to CES, well I haven’t, so jokes on me!
Basically I was one of the lucky ones at Gatwick Airport yesterday that didn’t get to take off. We got told at 12.30 that the flight had been cancelled, and that was that. What was frustrating is that all the flights from Heathrow seemed to be taking off!
For those of you that missed the Tech21 event hosted by Ranieri, you missed a number of treats including Parcour, Ali Clarkson (YouTube stunt bike sensation…) and of course Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis of Dragons Den.
Last Saturday, we were lucky enough to get a VIP invite to the Watford v Leicester game, courtesy of Evolution HDTV, our new client and official sponsor of Watford FC.
Yesterday saw the exclusive UK launch of MEDION’s all-in-one touch screen PC, THE TOUCH. It was held in the swanky Charlotte Street Hotel, London, in one of its private rooms that look remarkably like a lounge…and a lounge to be jealous of!
Ranieri is delighted to be taking part in this years Byte Night to raise money for Action for Children, if you would like to donate, please click here:
Three of the team ventured to the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) in London last night for the 2009 Macworld Awards, with everything crossed for the four Ranieri clients who were nominated.
Tomorrow evening (Thursday 18th June) is that time of the year again when the Mac industry comes together for a swanky awards ceremony and a beer or five. The MacWorld awards. These recognise the products and vendors that have made a significant contribution throughout the past year and award them accordingly, considered to be a benchmark of excellence throughout the industry.
In celebration of its German heritage, last night we held an event for our client Medion in a bavarian beerhouse. It was an exclusive press party filled with beer, sausages, schnapps, ‘interesting’ german music and waitresses dressed in traditional Bavarian outfits. All very entertaining.

Yesterday I attended the Wireless Event 2009 at London’s Olympia. I have to say it was a major disappointment, it seems to be getting smaller every year and apart from a few stands the only thing of interest was the free back and neck massage. Although, I did spend the day on the Datawind stand which, without being bias seemed to attract the most attention. They had a special promotion for the duration of the event to buy a PocketSurfer, it was well received, and the stand looked great. They generated lots of interest from both the end users and potential business partners. Overall I think it was a huge success for Datawind but I question the shows future.
Well I’m back from another trip to the annual Macworld and CES shows in San Francisco/las Vegas respectively. As I finally catch up with email I’m reflecting on whether the investment of flights, hotels and taking out a number of other Ranieri’s to the show was worth the hassle. Admittly we always have a good time, as PR people how could you not enjoy San Francisco and Las Vegas, especially when you have the chance to take out some old press friends plus meet some existing and hopefully new clients.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a global highlight of the consumer technology calendar, and as usual, Ranieri Communications will be there to see the events unfold.
As some of you may know we have a US partner called The Max Borges Agency. We are obviously both starting to think about CES in Las Vegas, and one of Max’s associates came across this YouTube clip about CES in 1983, the economy of the time sounds familar! Anyway if your CES veteran or if your wondering what all the fuss is about have a watch…
