Apple über fans – they’re like the male equivalent of Heat readers. Remember that mad Scottish lady in the Heat advert who attacks everyone standing between her and purchasing a copy of the gossip rag? Well, imagine that, but more male and stood outside the Apple store on Regent’s Street on a cold night, waiting for the launch of a new product. They’re scarily similar, aren’t they?

In April Wacom began its search for the ‘Sound of Bamboo’, a My Space competition which was launched across Europe to find a piece of music that could be used for the Bamboo brand video. It needed to reflect the essence of the brand which is about inspiration, expressing creativity and communicating personality. http://www.myspace.com/soundofbamboo. Not only will the winning song be used with the Bamboo clip in related marketing activities, but the winner will also receive €10,000 worth of music equipment from Music Store!

The competition was open to anyone and all genres of music. A panel of music experts from all over Europe including Alan Branch, a UK based producer who has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode and Primal Scream narrowed hundreds of entries down to just 45. It is now down to the general public and My Space community to vote for the top three songs before the ultimate winner is crowned by the jury.

Really interesting concept this, the marrying of your trusty old TV and your social media site/feeds…
The idea behind this is that we are now in a generation, or an upcoming generation, of TV users that also sit with a laptop/smartphone watching TV but interacting on various social media sites like facebook, myspace, twitter, linkedin as we watch.
